Egg Stimulation

Days 5 and 6
Day 5 the meds were just the same and I had my next appointment on Day 6. There was growth and the egg count stayed the same but my doctor thought based on my numbers that the retrieval would now be on Wednesday. He told me to order more meds through Monday. Every extra day of meds is about 1500 dollars so it is stressful. My estradiol is increasing nicely so my dosage stayed the same. It is really nice that at every appointment I can see the eggs on a large screen and that they describe what they are seeing and provide updates. So far everything is tracking appropriately. Prayers that it keeps going that way.

Days 7 and 8
I got the medication ordered on Thursday for Monday and they also added a 3rd shot to my regimen of Ganirelex which is a generic form of cetritide. The Ganirelex is used to make sure that I do not ovulate. We are doing all this work to stimulate these ovaries but we don't want any to be released until the retrieval. The Ganirelex stings at the injection site and I find it harder to inject. The stinging lasts over 30 minutes. At my appointment Friday, they recommended icing before my next shots. I did and it helped but it did still sting. At my appointment I also found out that out of the 6 eggs only 4 were progressing. I asked if the other two would catch up and my doctor said it was unlikely. On the other side they found an additional egg so we have 6 on the left and 4 on the right that we are now tracking. The doctor now also thinks that the retrieval will not be until Thursday now. I am very anxious but want my numbers to be the best they can be so I need to be patient. I will find out more on Monday.
